ZEPHYRHILLS

A solo Azenga by ai li
London
8 July 1997

zephyrhills...
a place
for water

youth sits
on every doorstep

x-ray unit
i notice
the wilted geraniums

willing him
to stop

varicose veins
on my
young niece

unguent
in stone jars

the masseur
offering everything
but relief

stripped of bra
finding two lumps

rolling countryside
enjoyed from
an open-top car

queueing for
clotted cream

patter
of paws
on parquet

ocelot
at zazen

never-never land
the one-way
ticket

mother smiling
into the dark

lazy afternoon
fraise-du-bois
by the hammock

king for a day
asking for silk sheets

joker
in the envelope
with his will

iconoclast...
baked beans by warhol

hungry
for
neon

g-string     i buy
         a pack

fellatio
in a
nun's dictionary

eye contact
at the funeral parlour

daisies
where she used
to run

calling ghosts
at dusk

beating wings
for the one
left behind

a stone placed
              hearing our song
