THE BLUE COLUMBINE

A Symbolenga between Alexis K. Rotella and ai li
Los Gatos, California and London
21 March - 26 April 1997

A year after our breakup        the blue Columbine does not come back

the scratch on mahogany when he lied

the glass shatters in my hand        news of great aunt's death

8,000 miles away           a mirror covered

leaving vespers early        a meteor shower

a car skids on ice           the howling wolf

exams over        everywhere        butterflies

spring again           on the web           wing

transformation        I throw away my old backpack

bride washing shroud

as she says "I do" a sprinkle of rain

the first autumn leaf           catacomb steps

lizard on door step           its tail gone

FROM THE PLEIADS

A Symbolenga between Alexis K. Rotella and ai li
Los Gatos, California and London
3 - 7 May 1997

A man from the Pleiad drives a Subaru

into sunset the silbouette with no shadow

the ketchup bottle pours itself

a cow smelling corned beef hash

the whoopie cushion's feces odor

pine forest in a pencil box

the grass snake curls around his calf

convict making a daisy chain

red iron tablets           the boy thinks they're M&Ms

a wreath by the ferris wheel

RIDE AT YOUR OWN RISK        roller coaster sign

fortune teller covering her crystal ball

the tiny coffin's black lacquer shine
